Me, Myself & I - An Art Contest

Alright! So the first contest was a blast and I loved absolutely EVERY SINGLE entry! I only wish I could have given a prize to everyone. Unfortuneately I'm not made of money...nor do I own a money tree no matter what some people may think.

For this contest I've UPPED the prizes considerably I think so hopefully you'll all be really excited and tell your friends to enter too. I've also made the contest deadline longer, four months instead of three. WHICH MEANS, I won't be accepting late entries as I did last time unless you have a really really good excuse. That makes the deadline for the contest in mid June. Plenty of time to get it done. Don't you agree?

I found that so many people preferred to draw a single character over two, or at least that was my understanding from the outcome of the last contest. XD So to appeal to you all, I offer an array of single character possibilities with an added bonus double character at the bottom. I tried to appeal to all areas of artistic creativity and ranges with these options, however, there ARE stipulations. IF YOU DON'T FOLLOW ALL THE RULES YOU WILL BE DISQUALIFIED AND YOUR ENTRY INVALID! Now, on with the options! There are quite a few so please be careful in what you decide. READ EACH OPTION CAREFULLY!

ALL OPTIONS have one key factor and one key factor alone, as is hinted by the title of my contest, all entries shall be made in my image. Which means using references of me that are provided at the end of all options, create the artwork in my likeness. Kind of like dressing me up for halloween, but in an artwork.

OPTION 1: Sagittarius

Well, if you didn't already know my birthday falls under the astrological sign of Sagittarius whose symbol is that of a centaur/archer. For this option I want you to draw me as a centaur with a bow and arrow set. A nice background in a forest or someplace wild would be cool. Heck you could make me running through space with a trail of star dust to reference the constellation aspect of being a Sagittarius. Clothing and such are all up to you, just make the human part of the centaur look like me as mentioned above.


Option 2: Shiver Me Timbers!

That's right, draw me as a swashbuckling pirate! Sort of like a celebration of the release of Pirates of the Caribbean coming out in July as well as my just having read two pirate based books. Outfit and crew status is entirely up to you, make me a Captain, make me a Bosun or make me a lowly deck hand, entirely up to you, but be original and try to use only authentic pirate gear, I don't want to see a picture of me in some neon spandex short shorts or anything, that's just not right, Stick to clothing found in the pirate time period and all will be well. Be creative! Please also try to make the background in a pirate theme, if you don't draw ship decks well, put me on a beach gaurding a chest of gold or in a cave full of bounty, your choice!



Option 3: "I think I'm turning Japanese I really think so!"

I have a terribly unhealthy obsession with kimonos, I see one and by god I WANT IT! Unfortuneately I haven't the money to buy my own, so I want you to design one for me and dress me in it! Put me in a nice japanese setting, perhaps a few fluttering cherry blossoms? Up to you!



Option 4: Do You Believe in Magic?

I SURE DO! I want you to make me into a sorceress! Fantasy is my favourite genre of novels to read so the more magic the better! Dress me as a sorceress in magic clothing of your own design! Having magic showing is a MUST, whether it's floating around me or shimmering forth from my hands or a staff or something else, MAKE IT MAGIC! This one doesn't necessarily require a solid background, but if you put me on a background that's too simple I'll be upset. A creative background is key. ^_^



BONUS OPTION: Don't Trust the Devil Inside Me

I'm always appealed by the whole, good vs evil, god vs devil, right vs wrong sort of thing. So as a bonus, I decided to have this option. This option is NOT a single character option, it's a duo! Draw me as an angel and as a devil, IN THE SAME PICTURE! Not seperately, the two aspects MUST be together or neither will be admissable. Create an angelic outfit and a devil outfit, again, BE CREATIVE! This Bonus Options has prizes all it's own, check the prize listing for it.

You can't tell from those pics, but I'm like 5'10" so I'm TALL, keep that in mind. ^_^



Rules

- All entries must be in by July 20th, 2006. Absolutely NO exceptions will be considered unless you've noted me at least a week prior to the deadline. (That's 4mths from now. Plenty of time.)
- BE CREATIVE! Creativity is a major factor in this contest because ALL the outfits are created by the participants. If you're copying another outfit and I find out you will be disqualified.
- You cannot submit a recycled artwork. Which means if you've drawn any of these characters for me before, the submission for the contest must be entirely new.
- When you post your entry on dA or anywhere else PLEASE remember to add the appropriate copyright information, Your drawing ME (Andrea MacFarlane) and the OUTFITS are copyright to YOU. I will hunt you down if you don't.
- You may enter up to 3 times for this contest, no more then that. And your art can only be eligible for up to 2 prizes.
- The BONUS OPTION is a prize section all on it's own, like a secondary contest inside a contest. NO BONUS OPTIONS ARE ELIGIBLE FOR THE REST OF THE CONTEST! ONLY FOR THE BONUS PRIZES.

Judging and Prizes

Judging will be done by me and a select number of my friends and family. Any of my friends/family wishing to participate in the contest will be voided from the voting committee. All judging will take place from July 20th-30th, 2006 and prizes will be dished out the morning of the July 31st!

Prizes For Options 1-4 are as follows:

-1st prize is a 2yr sub or the cash equivalent and 2 fully illustrated colour pictures by me, including backgrounds. You can also get a 1 yr sub and the cash instead of a second year.

-2nd prize is a 2yr sub or cash equivalent and a fully illustrated colour picture by me, with a background. You can also get a 1 yr sub and the cash instead of a second year.

-3rd prize is a 1yr sub or cash equivalent and a fully illustrated colour picture by me, not including a background

-4th prize is a 1yr sub or cash equivalent and a lineart done by me, not including a background.

-5th prize is a 3mth sub or cash equivalent and a lineart done by me, no background

-6th prize is a 3mth sub or cash equivalent

Please Note that all prizes which include art will include having the art shipped to you upon it's completion at my expense.

-1st Prize is a 1yr sub or cash equivalent.
